Whole Life Discipleship in 7 Spheres of Life

By Raja Shaleem, CEO – LORD’S HOME

Discipleship is at the very heart of the Christian faith. When Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20, He commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This was not a suggestion or an optional activity for the Church — it is the core mission of every believer and every Christian community.

Yet, in many places, discipleship has been reduced to church programs, Bible studies, or spiritual activities that remain within the four walls of the church. While these are valuable, they are not the fullness of discipleship. Jesus calls us to follow Him with our whole lives — in our families, in our workplaces, in schools, in society, and in every part of culture.

At LORD’S HOME, we believe that discipleship must go beyond Sundays and beyond church buildings. It must shape the way we live every day and in every sphere of life. That is why we have embraced the vision of Whole Life Discipleship (WLD).

What is Whole Life Discipleship (WLD)?

Whole Life Discipleship is a biblical and practical model that equips believers to live as disciples of Jesus in all areas of life. It is not just about what we believe, but how we live. It is about becoming more like Christ in our character, decisions, relationships, and influence.

WLD challenges us to ask important questions:

  • How is my faith shaping the way I work?
  • How do I reflect Jesus in my family life?
  • How am I contributing to justice, peace, and truth in society?
  • How can I use my talents, creativity, and leadership to glorify God?

The vision of WLD is built around seven key spheres of life that shape society. If disciples live faithfully in these areas, they can bring transformation not only to their communities but also to the nation.

The Seven Spheres of Life

  1. Arts & Entertainment (🎭) – Culture is often shaped through music, film, drama, and art. As Christians, we are called to create and engage with art that reflects truth, beauty, and hope, pointing people to the Creator.
  2. Business & Marketplace (πŸ’Ό) – Work is worship when done with honesty and excellence. In the marketplace, Christians have the opportunity to show integrity, resist corruption, and steward resources for the common good.
  3. Church & Ministry () – The Church is called to be the light of the world and the equipping place for disciples. It must train believers not only to serve within the church but to live out their faith in daily life.
  4. Education (πŸ“š) – Schools and universities shape the next generation. Christian teachers, students, and leaders can influence education with values of truth, justice, and compassion.
  5. Family (πŸ‘¨πŸ‘©πŸ‘§) – The family is the first and most important place of discipleship. Strong, Christ-centered families can raise generations of children and youth who follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
  6. Media (πŸ“°) – Media has immense power to influence thought and opinion. Christian voices are needed to bring truth, ethics, and a Kingdom perspective into journalism, social media, and communication platforms.
  7. Government & Society (πŸ›) – Leadership and governance shape the future of nations. Believers engaged in government, law, or civil society can promote justice, righteousness, and servant leadership.

When disciples live for Christ in these seven spheres, the presence of Jesus becomes visible in every part of society.

How LORD’S HOME Has Adopted WLD

At LORD’S HOME, the vision of Whole Life Discipleship is not just a theory — it is the foundation of all our work. Every program, initiative, and partnership we run is shaped by this vision.

  • Training and Leadership Development – We equip pastors, ministry leaders, and youth with discipleship tools that emphasize the 7 spheres.
  • WLD Consultations – We bring together leaders from different churches and organizations in major cities of Pakistan to reflect on how discipleship is practiced, what challenges exist, and how to strengthen it in their contexts.
  • Youth and Family Programs – We focus on raising young disciples and strengthening families as core places of discipleship.
  • Community Transformation – Through outreach and service initiatives, we encourage practical expressions of faith that impact education, business, and society.
  • Networking and Partnerships – We collaborate with churches, ministries, and organizations to make WLD a movement owned by the wider Body of Christ in Pakistan.

Our Strategy: From Vision to Movement

LORD’S HOME does not see WLD as a single project, but as a movement that belongs to the entire Church. Our role is to provide platforms, training, and resources that enable leaders and churches to take ownership of this vision.

  1. Citywide Consultations – Annual gatherings in major cities where 50 leaders from diverse churches and ministries come together for three days of dialogue, reflection, and action planning.
  2. Vision Ownership – Leaders return to their churches and ministries to apply the WLD vision, becoming vision carriers.
  3. Follow-up Gatherings – Local leaders hold smaller quarterly or bi-annual meetings to evaluate progress, share testimonies, and address challenges.
  4. Movement Building – Over time, this creates a network of discipleship leaders across Pakistan, turning WLD into a sustainable national movement.

Why This Matters

We live in a time when the Church in Pakistan faces many challenges — social pressures, lack of resources, and limited opportunities. But we also believe that this is a time of great opportunity. If discipleship is strengthened and deepened, the Church can rise to be a light and a witness to the nation.

Through Whole Life Discipleship, we can:

  • Equip believers to be faithful and bold in their daily lives.
  • Strengthen families and communities.
  • Build integrity and excellence in the workplace.
  • Raise a generation of young disciples who influence education and culture.
  • Encourage collaboration across denominations and ministries.

Our Dream

Our dream is to see Pakistan filled with disciples who truly live like Jesus in every sphere of life. A movement where disciples make disciples — not only in church pews but in classrooms, offices, homes, media platforms, and government institutions.

We believe that this is the way the Gospel transforms nations. When disciples live faithfully in every sphere of society, they reflect the Kingdom of God and bring glory to Jesus.

Conclusion

At LORD’S HOME, we are committed to this vision. Everything we do — whether training leaders, mobilizing youth, strengthening families, or serving communities — is guided by the call to Whole Life Discipleship.

We invite you to join us on this journey. Together, let us build a discipleship movement in Pakistan that is holistic, practical, and transformational. Let us raise generations of disciples who show Jesus through their lives in all seven spheres of society.

In Christ,
